Four CLC career students place at SkillsUSA state competition

Four College of Lake County career and technical education students competed and earned medals at the SkillsUSA Illinois State Conference, held April 25 in Springfield.

"All our students represented CLC well and competed confidently, with class and style. I am very proud of them," said Tina Ye, Ph.D., coordinator of the SkillsUSA CLC chapter and chair/professor of the CAD department.

Stephan Grimm (Lake Villa) received 1st place in technical drafting, earning the opportunity to compete in the SkillsUSA National Championships in June, held in Louisville, Ky.

Jacob Thorpe (Mundelein) received 3rd place in criminal justice.

Kevin Foli (Lake Bluff) earned 4th place in criminal justice.

Ahmad Alchaar (Beach Park) received 6th place in automotive service technology.

In addition to Dr. Ye, faculty members Ted Wells (automotive technology) and Chris Utecht and Fred Witte (criminal justice) attended the competition and coached the CLC students.
