Oct. 16: Engineering Night at College of Lake County

Ever wonder what it takes to become an engineer or what the profession entails? Come to the College of Lake County on Thursday, Oct. 16 to learn about careers in engineering and meet with representatives from area engineering schools.

Engineering Night begins at 6:30 p.m. in Room C005 on the CLC Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington Street. The event, part of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Speaker Series, is free and open to students of all ages as well as interested community members. The event includes:

6:30-7 p.m.: Sign up for presentations on university engineering programs to be held following the evening's keynote speaker. Student may select up to three presentations, choosing from Illinois Institute of Technology, Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and others. Talk with professional engineers and university representatives.

7-8 p.m.: Keynote speaker Dr. Kevin Pitts, associate dean for undergraduate programs at UIUC, discussing "the Engineering Experience." He will provide insights on opportunities available to engineering students as they pursue their education and enter the workplace.

8-9:30 p.m.: University presentations.
