Applications are currently being accepted for the 26th annual Community Paint-A-Thon on Saturday, Sept. 7. Under the program, volunteer teams are matched to do the scraping, priming and painting of eligible houses for free. Homes must be occupied by people at least 60 years old who have limited financial resources and a disability hindering them from doing the work themselves. Exteriors must be in need of repainting due to peeling, fading or worn paint. The program includes Barrington, Elk Grove, Hanover, Maine, New Trier, Niles, Northfield, Palatine, Schaumburg and Wheeling townships.
