Participants can choose a distance and celebrate at the finish line with refreshments and family-friendly entertainment. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Adapted bikes, trailers and wheels of all kinds are welcome!

The kid-friendly ride is updated as a one-third mile loop in a closed parking lot around the Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley Elgin center, 799 S. McLean Blvd. Elgin. Riders will earn a token for each loop they complete that can be redeemed for kid-friendly prizes.

Bike for the Kids will support the work of Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley to create limitless possibilities for infants, children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities and ensure they have the therapies and programs they need reach new goals and meet their milestones. The day will also include a special adapted bike giveaway so that children with disabilities can enjoy cycling with their family and friends.

These adapted bikes are part of the Jonathan Goers Adapted Bike Program, established to share the joy of biking with children who have developmental delays and/or disabilities and may not otherwise have the opportunity to ride or own a bicycle. The program will provide the child with an adapted bicycle free of charge.

"These adaptive bikes will help many children enjoy the independence of mobility and take part in a fun activity with friends and family. As a parent with special needs children, I know the impact bike riding has to a child's development. A child's first bike enriches their health and social development to grow alongside their peers," said Theresa Forthofer, President &CEO of Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley.

Special guests include Elgin Mayor Dave Kaptain will say a few remarks and the Elgin Fire Department and Fire Department union president Joe Galli will present a check. They will be attending around 12:30 p.m. for the adapted bike presentation. The Larkin High School poms will help kick off the kids' ride at 1 p.m.

This will be the last event at McLean Boulevard site as they prepare for the move to 1135 Bowes Road later this month. They will be sharing building space with Association for Individual Development and finding new ways to work together.
