Inaugural Larry St. Onge Memorial Run to benefit United Way's COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund

Join the Fox Valley United Way for the inaugural Larry St. Onge Run to Benefit Others on Saturday, Nov. 6, at Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton.

Larry St. Onge inspired all those that knew him to strive for the greater good, to help and support others, and make the world a better place.

The Larry St. Onge Memorial Run to Benefit Others was created to honor Larry and carry his legacy forward by doing what we can to benefit those less fortunate.

The charity 10K, 5K Run and Walk event will help support those left most vulnerable by COVID-19.

All proceeds raised by this event will be donated to United Way's COVID-19 Community Response and Recovery Fund.

This fall race will be on the crushed limestone trails at the Danada Forest Preserve, off Naperville Road in Wheaton. The limestone trails in the nationally designated Danada-Herrick Regional Trail wind through prairie, woodland and marsh habitats, providing scenic excursions.

A charity walk also will be held for those wishing to participate but at a more relaxed pace.

If you are not able to run in this event, you can participate as a remote runner, or simply donate in memory of St. Onge to help those in need and relieve the burden on those whose lives have been upended by this crisis.

Cost is $40 for the 10K or $35 for the 5K, remote runner, or charity runner. To sign up, go to LSO-Memorial.5K.run.

Overall awards will be presented to the top three finishers, and recognition pins will be awarded to to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age group.

This event will follow the COVID-19 recommendations/restrictions of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.
