Preparations continue for 79th White and Red Debutante Ball

The Legion of Young Polish Women, founded in 1939, is a nonprofit organization that focuses on charitable, scientific, literary, and educational causes in the Polish community. The "White and Red Ball," its main fundraiser, is one of the most prestigious events for the Polish community in Chicago. This year, the ball will take place at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, March 3, in the Grand Ballroom of the Chicago Hilton Hotel. It will be the Legion's 79th Ball.

For a debutante, the "White and Red Ball" is an unforgettable experience. It is her ticket to social gatherings, as well as encourages participation in the Polish community and charitable activities. The night consists of dancing the traditional polonaise, the presentation of debutantes, the graceful mazurka at midnight and dancing to beautiful waltz melodies. The Queen of the Ball is crowned before midnight, chosen based on funds raised by each debutante before and during the ball.

During the fall, the debutantes accompanied by their parents attended "Debutante Teas," social gatherings for potential debutantes. Currently, preparations for this year's ball are already well under way, with debutantes attending weekly rehearsals in anticipation of this magical night.

This year's master of ceremonies is Hubert Cioromski. Hubert, along with Barbara I. Ciepiela, president of the Legion, and Kathy Evans, chairman of the ball, invite you cordially on March 3 to support the noble cause of the Legion.
