Lake County Housing Authority Recognized for Long-Standing Relationship with Youth Build of Lake County

On Friday, July 12, 2013 the Lake County Housing Authority (LCHA) was recognized by YouthBuild Lake County for its long-term partnership. LCHA has overseen an internship program in collaboration with YouthBuild that has helped many youth gain real world work experience.

LCHA Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, David A. Northern, Sr. accepted the award on behalf of the agency at the sixth annual YouthBuild Summer picnic. The collaboration between YouthBuild and LCHA originated based upon an idea that Mr. Northern had and proposed in 2008. He believed that this connection would enhance both agencies and to-date, it has done just that. As Northern expressed, “LCHA is proud to serve in a role with YouthBuild of Lake County. The internship is a great program and it has been a privilege to be affiliated with it since 2008. LCHA looks forward to continuing to nurture this program even further into the future.”

The event was held at the YouthBuild main office in North Chicago, Illinois. In attendance were over fifty (50) guests that included YouthBuild staff and Board members, public officials and other community members that joined together for an afternoon of “camaraderie and recognition” for all the work that YouthBuild has achieved and looks to achieve in future.
