To celebrate Heart Health Month, Clare Oaks and the Assisi Health Care Center at Clare Oaks will host a series of heart-related screenings, as well as have experts on site to provide tips for seniors to stay heart healthy. The event will take place on Feb. 20 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To kick off the event, Dr. Nephtali Kogan, cardiologist from Alexian Brothers Medical Center will conduct a 20-minute presentation titled "Understanding Coronary Disease -- Why Doctors Do What They Do", with a Q&A session to follow. After the presentation, a series of stations will be set up to conduct some basic heart screenings, as well as provide additional tips for seniors.
Stations will include:
• Blood pressure screenings
• Pulse ox monitor to measure oxygen saturation levels
• Jane Jarrett, licensed dietician, providing heart healthy eating advice
• Tammy Holzer, wellness director for Clare Oaks for an overview of programs the community has to offer
Light refreshments will be served & the first 100 people will receive a free pedometer.
Clare Oaks is located at 825 Carillion Dr. in Bartlett. The entrance is located a ½ mile east of Route 59 on West Bartlett Road.
