Boys soccer/Fox Valley roundup

Mario Rodriguez scored twice and Mike Delaney added a goal as the Streamwood boys soccer team defeated Burlington Central 3-1 Thursday in nonconference action at BC.

Ivan Rosales added 2 assists for the Sabres (10-6), while Danny Neveraz had 1 assist. Phil Lewy made 4 saves in goal for Streamwood.

Ian Graffagna scored the Rockets’ only goal off an assist from Matt O’Connor. Brett Rau made 5 saves in goal and Nolan St. John had 2 stops for Burlington Central (14-3-2).

St. Edward 2, Elgin Academy 1: Joe French and Alex Semler scored the goals and Carlos Moreno and Johnny Shepherd had the assists as St. Edward outlasted Elgin Academy in nonconference action. Matt Hesch made 7 saves in goal for the Green Wave (8-12). Drew Wilmington scored off an assist from Nate Johnson for Elgin Academy. Liam Phalen made 5 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers (6-5-4). The two teams will meet again next Wednesday in a Class 1A Westminster Christian regional semifinal game.

Minooka 3, South Elgin 2: Owen Bott and Nathan Fisher scored off assists from Quinn Uveges and Alberto Bustamante for South Elgin in this nonconference loss. Tyler Shipon had 11 saves in goal for the Storm (6-9-1).

Prairie Ridge 2, Dundee-Crown 1: Jonathan Castillo scored the only goal for Dundee-Crown in this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division loss, the Chargers’ second straight setback. Christian Martinez made 6 saves in goal for the Chargers (16-3-1, 3-2-0).

St. Francis 3, Bartlett 2: Matt Seidl and AJ Santori scored for Bartlett in this nonconference loss. Justin Busch had 4 saves in goal for the Hawks (1-13).

Grayslake North 6, Hampshire 0: Andy Pederson made 19 saves in goal for the Whip-Purs (5-11, 1-4) in this FVC Fox loss.

CL South 2, McHenry 0: Sam Murdock scored both goals, one off an assist from Jack Carlson and the other off a feed from Michael Conley as CL South won in the FVC Valley. Gus Alvarez (1 save) and Steven Follmer (2 saves) combined for the shutout for the Gators (11-9-1, 2-3).
