The Dr. Robert Stanger Young Artist Concerto Audition for the 2021-22 season will be conducted by the Elmhurst Symphony Association, in cooperation with the Elmhurst Kiwanis Club, on Saturday, Feb. 13, at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Road in Elmhurst.

The yearly Stanger Audition provides an opportunity for outstanding high school orchestral instrumentalists and pianists to grow as musicians, gain recognition for their efforts preparing for the audition, and compete for the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra.

The winner of this event will appear as a soloist with the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra during its 2021-22 subscription season and will also receive a monetary award of $400.

Three runners-up receive monetary awards and are invited to perform for local community groups.

Applications for the Stanger Audition must be postmarked by Wednesday, Dec. 30.

The application fee is $40.

Each entrant will be given 10 minutes to perform a selection, and performances will be evaluated by three judges who will provide written comments and suggestions.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra website at www.elmhurstsymphony.org; click on Education.

Entrants must be residents of DuPage County or within the following boundaries: north, I-90 and Kennedy Expressway; west, Fox River; south, Stevenson Expressway (Route 55) until it reaches Route 126 that will become the southern boundary across to the Fox River; and east, Austin Boulevard. If 25 spots are not filled by residents within these geographic boundaries, students outside this area may be considered to fill open spots.

For further information, contact the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra office at (630) 941-0202.
