Gain foundational academic skills through COD's High School Success Series

The College of DuPage is hosting the High School Success Series this summer to educate students on how to manage workloads and expectations.

The following courses will be offered in July:

Writing Workshop:

Gain skills to improve sentence structure, punctuation and grammar. This three-day series of courses will be offered Mondays to Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m. on July 8 to 10 at COD's Westmont Center; 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on July 15 to 17 at COD's Naperville Center; and 1 to 3 p.m. on July 22 to 24 in the Student Resource Center on the College's Glen Ellyn campus. The cost of each course within the series is $119.

Note-Taking and Outlining:

Learn to discern relevant material and concentrate on the process of effectively organizing notes. This one-day course will be offered three times: from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8, at COD's Westmont Center; 4 to 5:50 p.m. on Monday, July 15, at COD's Naperville Center; and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 22, in the Berg Instructional Center on the college's Glen Ellyn campus. The price of each course is $49.

Test-Taking and Group Study Strategies:

This project-based course involves group assignments to help students develop interpersonal skills, navigate group dynamics and gain strategies for task completion. This one-day course will be offered three times: from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, at COD's Westmont Center; 4 to 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at COD's Naperville Center; and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, in the Berg Instructional Center on the college's Glen Ellyn campus. The price of each course is $49.

Time Management:

Learn to manage time, class workload and enrichment activities. This one-day course will be offered three times: from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, at COD's Westmont Center; 4 to 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at COD's Naperville Center; and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, in the Berg Instructional Center on the college's Glen Ellyn campus. The price of each course is $49.

Computer Applications:

Practice touch-typing on the keyboard of a personal computer while developing speed and accuracy. Learn basic word processing skills, including how to properly format and edit text using the appropriate software applications. This one-day course will be offered three times: from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, at COD's Westmont Center; 4 to 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at COD's Naperville Center; and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, in the Student Resource Center on the college's Glen Ellyn campus. The price of each course is $49.
