Spring into health at Advocate Good Shepherd Kids Fair
Barrington, IL – Treat your family's spring fever with a dose of fun at the Spring into Health Kids Fair on Saturday May 19, 10 am to 2 pm, on the grounds of Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. This free event is sure to be a high energy day of playing, laughing and learning for kids as well as parents.
The first 300 children registered will receive a free bike helmet with proper fittings provided by Good Shepherd Hospital's emergency room staff. “With the weather getting warmer, bike, scooter and roller blade accidents are likely to increase and helmets are the best defense for what could be a serious head injury,” says Julie Mayer, director of community outreach and government relations.
In addition to the bike helmet giveaway, the fair will feature many exhibitors with interactive displays educating children on the importance of choosing heart healthy activities, making good food choices and staying active. There will also be a focus on safety with a texting and driving simulation, Operation Click's safe driving course and car seat safety checks.
Activities throughout the afternoon include:
• Interactive health and wellness booths
• Life size Operation game
• Frisbee golf course
• Operation Click golf cart safe driving course
• Care seat safety check
• Close up look at a Flight for Life helicopter
• Ask a Pediatrician
• Interactive smoke house
• Dancing with a DJ
• Cool giveaways and healthy snacks
Register by May 1 to be included in the raffle drawing to win:
• Girls and boys bicycle
• Overnight stay at KeyLime Cove Resort
• Brunswick Zone Family Fantastic Party Package
