St. Raphael Church of Naperville donates $400 to Humanitarian Service Project
The St. Raphael Church in Naperville donated $400 to the Humanitarian Service Project's Senior Citizen Project. This is the second part of a grant that completes the $800 sponsorship of a senior in their program.
By sponsoring a senior, St. Raphael Church of Naperville was able to provide a delivery of nutritional food every month of the year to a senior in the DuPage and Kane counties. The Church has contributed to HSP in numerous ways since 1993 by donating money to sponsor a senior, as well as conducting food, toy, and book drives for the Carol Stream-based charity's various programs. Karole Kettering, executive director of HSP said, “The donations and volunteer help we have received from St. Raphael have shown how conscious they are about helping the community. We are overjoyed to have them working with us to help these deserving seniors.”
The 120 impoverished seniors in HSP's Senior Citizens Project receive monthly deliveries of 90 lbs. of groceries that include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishable foods, personal care items and paper products provided by HSP's volunteers.

About The Humanitarian Service Project:
HSP has been given the highest Four Star rating by Charity Navigator for the seventh consecutive year. HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering Project, 1,264 children received gifts and 150 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides a monthly food delivery and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 700 children. Feed the Kids provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce during the summer months. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive that benefited a total of 5,200 children by giving supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair and directly to schools and individual children.
