OCC donates additional $6,000 to Humanitarian Service Project

OCC donated an additional $6,000 to the Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) to help needy senior citizens in DuPage and Kane counties. The company selected the Humanitarian Service Project as its “Charity of the Year”, and in April, donated $12,000 to the Carol Stream based not-for-profit organization. The OCC employees raised the funds through their Jeans Day program, employee raffles, etc.

OCC is the world's largest equity derivatives clearing organization and is dedicated to promoting stability and financial integrity in the marketplaces that it serves by focusing on sound risk management principles. Thirteen OCC associates volunteered at HSP this past Friday sorting fruits and vegetables in preparation for Senior Delivery Day. Karen Bilek, one of the thirteen volunteers, said, “We were all really excited to get a hands-on experience and such a great view of the amazing assortments of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, and non-perishables that are delivered to the seniors each month.”

The donation will be used to fund monthly deliveries of 90 lbs. of groceries including fresh fruits and vegetables, a variety of frozen meats, personal care items and paper products to each of the 120 senior citizens in the charity's Senior Citizens Project. The seniors also receive a monthly “Secret Pal” gift and Holiday Meal.

Karole Kettering, Executive Director of the HSP said, “We so enjoyed hosting the OCC associates this past Friday. It was great for the OCC staff to see firsthand the vital difference their support makes in an impoverished senior's life.”
