Dirty Dozen Brass Band with Jon Cleary March 5 at the MAC

Revitalizing the traditional brass band with a twist of be-bop and funk, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band performs with Jon Cleary at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5, on the Mainstage of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking album, “My Feet Can't Fail Me Now,” the Dirty Dozen Brass Band performs a stripped-down version of the album accompanied by dobro, banjo and a large brass section.

The seven-member ensemble has recorded 11 albums and toured the U.S. and more than 30 other countries on five continents. The band has recorded with David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Dr. John and the Black Crowes.

Englishman Jon Cleary has spent more than two decades studying the musical culture and life of New Orleans. The pianist, singer and songwriter has recorded three solo albums and two with his band, Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. Additionally, he's performed with Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, BB King and Ryan Adams.

Cleary and his band open the March 5 concert and he joins The Dirty Dozen Brass Band during their set.

Tickets to The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Jon Cleary are $38 for adults, $36 for seniors and $28 for College of DuPage students and youth.

The March 5 concert features a free pre-performance MAC Chat from 7 to 7:40 p.m. in the MAC, Room 139.
