COD deserves voters' support

Friends for Education, the College of DuPage Political Action Committee, fully endorses the College of DuPage No-Tax-Rate-Increase referendum on the Nov. 2 ballot that would provide $168 million for capital improvements at the College of DuPage.

After reviewing the college's vision for facilities that will serve the students and community members of District 502 for decades to come, we encourage people to vote “yes” on this proposal. This no-tax-rate-increase capital referendum would include infrastructure improvements on new and existing buildings to ensure their continued viability for future generations of learners, including:

1. The COD Library. 2. McAninch Arts Center. 3. Physical Education Building and Community Recreation Center. 4. A centralized parking structure for student and community members. 5. Expansion of the Midwest's first Homeland Security Education Center.

This is a unique opportunity to make these campus improvements while ensuring that the capital portion of the COD tax rate will not increase for District 502 taxpayers. This referendum will fund improvements that exemplify the accessibility, value and excellence in education sought by institutions of higher education nationwide.

Voting “yes” is the right thing to do for our students and community members. Through its educational opportunities, cultural offerings and impact on the entire District 502 community, College of DuPage has earned our support. Let's make sure to provide it on Nov. 2.
