North Aurora plan meeting:The North Aurora Plan Commission meets at 7:30 tonight for a public hearing on a special use for a assisted-care/memory-care center in the Randall Road Commercial Center, and a variance for outside storage and display for Backyard Solutions, 119 Butterfield Road. Hammond, who has performed with notables such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf, will mix interpretations of early blues songs with his recent original compositions. Tickets are $34, $32 and $24. For details, call (630) 942-4000.Volunteers for recycling:Kane County is seeking adult volunteers to assist with its electronics recycling program. "This program continues to grow in popularity," said Gary Mielke, recycling coordinator for the county. "We are averaging about 800 cars each weekend, and fill four semitrailers with obsolete equipment." Volunteers are needed to help unload electronics equipment such as computers, televisions, and telephones from the public's vehicles. The program operates on the second Friday and Saturday of each month at the Circuit Clerk building on Randall Road in St. Charles. Since the program began in 2001, more than 38,000 residents and businesses have recycled more than 4.3 million pounds of used electronics.
