ECC will host Latino Film Festival April 21-23

Elgin Community College will host the 2017 Latino Film Festival Elgin this weekend, April 21-23.

This is the fifth year the college will host the festival, which features films from Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

The festival kicks off on Friday, April 21, with the screening of the Argentine romantic comedy "Una Noche de Amor" at 6:30 p.m. in the Building G Spartan Auditorium at the college, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. An opening reception follows the film in the Building E dining room.

Tickets to the film and reception are $30, $20 for students and seniors. Tickets to see the film only are $15, $12 for students and seniors.

All films are in Spanish with English subtitles. The remaining films will be shown at Marcus Theaters, 111 S. Randall Road in Elgin, and tickets to each film are $15, $12 for students and seniors. Tickets to all events can be purchased at the door, by phone at (800) 416-1623, or online at www.latinofilmfestivalelgin.com.

On Saturday, April 22, the festival continues at Marcus Theaters with "La Ciénaga: Entre el Mar y la Tierra" (Colombia) at 5 p.m. and "El Malquerido" (Venezuela) at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, April 23, the films will be "Los Fabulosos Ma' Mejores" (Dominican Republic) at 3 p.m. and "Pepo Pal Senado" (Puerto Rico) at 5 p.m.

The festival is sponsored by ECC President's Office, the ECC Humanities Center, ECC Student Life, MAGIC, GIST, the City of Elgin, and the City of Elgin Cultural Arts Commission.
