College of DuPage STEM workshop teaches the Art of Escape Games

Local STEM teachers recently had the opportunity to learn to design their own Classroom Intelligent Adventure (CIA) Mission through a professional development workshop led by Janet Moore, an Illinois State University math instructor. The workshop was offered as part of STEM at College of DuPage, an initiative to provide academic background and training in fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

Moore discussed the components and design of CIA Missions, which challenge students to complete a series of puzzles in order to crack the code to unlock the box and save the day.

Working as "CIA agents," students use classroom concepts based in the STEM disciplines, along with teamwork and problem-solving skills, to complete their mission successfully.
