Marion Jones Townhomes receives award for smokefree housing

Grayslake, IL- Marion Jones Townhomes of North Chicago, IL Receives Award as Part of Illinois Smokefree Housing Recognition Program

Marion Jones Townhomes, a family public housing development of Lake County Housing Authority, received the Illinois Smokefree Housing Recognition Silver Award, issued by the American Lung Association in Illinois. This recognition was based on the criteria that 100% of units and common areas are smokefree, and the policy is outlined in resident lease agreements. Additionally, smoking, by all managers, staff, tenants, guests, and vendors, is prohibited on property grounds within 15 feet of buildings.

By receiving this award, Lake County Housing Authority is now part of the Illinois Smokefree Housing Directory, a resource acknowledging properties that have adopted smokefree policies, encourage additional property owners/managers to adopt a smokefree policy and assist tenants in locating a smokefree property.

Marion Jones Townhomes became smokefree, effective May 1, 2012, as part the smokefree policy implemented by Lake County Housing Authority for all public housing.

Lake County Housing Authority is committed to providing affordable, safe, and sanitary housing for the residents of Lake County. For more information about LCHA, go to: www.lakecountyha.org.
