Loaves & Fishes accepts Giving Tuesday Challenge

Launched nationally last year to inspire action around charitable giving, Giving Tuesday is "an opening day to the giving season," similar to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, days that have become synonymous with holiday shopping.

Thanks to a matching grant from an anonymous donor, every $1 donated to Loaves & Fishes on December 3rd will be matched up to $20,000. In other words, Loaves & Fishes has the potential to raise a total of $40,000 in one day, which will bring hope to neighbors in need this holiday season.

The timing of Giving Tuesday is especially meaningful for Loaves & Fishes, which just completed its Thanksgiving food distributions. A record number of 880 area households received food and ancillary supportive services in just four days, with a total of 2,000 expected. The organization expects to assist an additional 2,000 families during the December winter holiday season.

“Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity for people to remember that the holiday season, while full of merriment and gift-giving, is also a chance to help others,” said Charles P. McLimans, Executive Director/CEO. “Loaves & Fishes is excited about the $20,000 challenge issued by a generous anonymous donor and hope that the community will help us reach that figure so we can continue to provide holistic support to the many families who need our help at the holidays and throughout the year.”

On Tuesday, December 3rd, donors can make an online gift by clicking DONATE NOW at the Loaves & Fishes website (www.loaves-fishes.org) throughout the day. Another option that day is to bring cash, a check or credit card to Loaves & Fishes at 1871 High Grove Ln, Naperville during between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.loaves-fishes.org/waystogive or call 630-355-3663.
