Elgin Academy notches win

Freshman Julien Romano scored twice Friday as the Elgin Academy soccer team defeated Newark 6-3 in nonconference action.

Drew Wilmington, Owen Rogers, Billy Gracik and Karl Rauschenberger added goals for the Hilltoppers, while Rauschenberger, Jin Park, Nate Johnson, Jeffrey Tang and Armando Sanchez each had assists.

Liam Phalen made 3 saves in the goal for Elgin Academy (5-3-2).

Schaumburg Christian 2, Harvest Christian 0: Patrick McGuire had 6 saves in goal but the Lions (4-6-2) couldn't find the back of the bet in this nonconference loss.

Cary-Grove 2, Carmel 1: Kevin Wilde scored off a Mike McKune assist in the first half then Wilde fed McKune for the game-winner as Cary-Grove won at the Carmel tournament. Kevin Schenk had 6 saves in goal for the Trojans (9-0-2).
