Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup

Streamwood's girls basketball team broke out to a 19-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back Tuesday night, downing Elgin 63-24 in a nonconference game at Streamwood.

Michelle Tomczak and Emma Schmidt scored 17 points each to lead the Sabres (7-13), who snapped a 5-game losing streak.

Amanda Patterson added a career-high 15 points for the Sabres, while Katie Quick led Elgin (1-18) with 6 points.

Hampshire 66, Harvard 26: The Whip-Purs (17-0, 4-0) took a commanding 24-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they remained undefeated, cruising to an easy victory over visiting Harvard in Big Northern East action. Chrissy Heine (16 points), Karla Vietinghoff (10 points), and Alex Dumoulin (10 points) all turned in double-digit performances to lead the Whip-Purs to victory.

Cary-Grove 51, Dundee-Crown 20: The Trojans (19-1, 5-0) came out strong, scoring early and often as they carried a 35-5 lead into halftime and continued their dominance in the second half en route to a victory over the Chargers (2-17, 0-6) in Fox Valley (Valley Division) play. Claire Jakubicek and Liz Dyrek paced the Trojans offensively with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while the Chargers were led by Megan Fasanella with 8 points.

Crystal Lake South 48, Huntley 45: The Gators (13-9, 5-2) almost let their 11-point lead heading into the fourth quarter slip away, but they held on long enough to defeat the visiting Red Raiders (10-10, 2-4) in this Fox Valley (Valley Division) matchup. Jenny Hanrahan lead the Gators, recording a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Michelle Gaede added double-digits, scoring 11 points. The Red Raiders were led by Katie Lowery and Carly Goede with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Jacobs 41, McHenry 24: The Golden Eagles (19-6, 5-1) used a balanced scoring attack as 8 out of their 9 players on the roster scored to earn a Fox Valley (Valley Division) victory over McHenry on the road. Hailey Cnota paced the Golden Eagles with 9 points while Melanie Schwerdtmann chipped in 8 points.

Bartlett 88, Addison Trail 35: The Hawks (12-8) wasted little time downing visiting Addison Trail in this nonconference matchup as four Bartlett players reached double-digits. Jacki Gulczynski (15 points), Nicole Beck (13 points), Haley Videckis (13 points), and Janessa Baker (12 points) all paced the Hawks.
