BAM Theatre's 'Broadway Spotlight' features Natalie Weiss April 20

Now that you have a little more time on your hands, BAM Theatre has some ways you can fill it! "BAM @ a Distance" will be featuring BAM staff and special guest artists several nights a week every week for fun theater activities, social media challenges, and musical live streams!

On Monday, April 20, acclaimed Broadway performer Natalie Weiss as the Broadway Spotlight guest from 7 to 8:30 p.m. She will begin with a full group workshop called "Breaking Down the Riff" and then a few select individuals will perform a solo piece and work with Weiss while the others observe. The session will wrap up with a brief Q&A. Register at www.bamtheatre.com/bam-distance.

After this Zoom workshop, you will gain: a stronger music theory foundation, the necessary tools to be able to "break down riffs" on your own, a stronger sense of pitch awareness, increased confidence to ad-lib/improvise/riff, tools to enhance your pop singing technique and personalize song lyrics, and business advice from Weiss.

Cost to participate is $65.

Cost to participate and be a solo performer: $100.

There will only be four solo performer spots, available first come, first serve. Choose "Natalie Weiss - Solo Performer" option when registering.

Weiss gained an international following from her performance videos and popular YouTube web series, "Breaking Down the Riffs". As a private vocal coach and master class teacher, she trains performers across the U.S. and throughout the world. Weiss guides singers with her trademarked method to break down riffs & runs from pop icons and often refers to her mission as "Pop Singing For Dummies."

Weiss is one of the most sought-after voices among new musical theater writers and is a soloist on several albums by numerous new musical theater composers. She just completed a run of the off-Broadway show, "Emojiland," as Construction Worker. She is part of the vocal ensemble on the acclaimed soundtrack for "The Greatest Showman," can be heard on the Original Broadway Cast recording of "Dear Evan Hansen" as one of the Virtual Community Voices and is one of four singers on the main jingles for "The Incredibles 2." Other credits include "Everyday Rapture" on Broadway, national tours of "Les Miserables" and "Wicked" and regional productions of "Ghost" and "Chess." Weiss received her BFA in musical theatre from Penn State University. She has plans to develop an online riff course within the next few years.
