Local Meals on Wheels ahead of the game and prepared for cold weather

"We delivered shelf staple emergency meals in early January in anticipation there could be a cold spell coming" said Marylin Krolak, executive director. "Our seniors have a week's supply of nourishment on hand at all times and additional hot meals were delivered today, Tuesday, Jan. 29."

The DuPage Senior Citizens Council/Kane Senior Council considers their Meals on Wheels service is more than just a meal. The most important part of their Meals on Wheels service is the well being check that assures the seniors we serve are physically and mentally safe and secure in their homes.

"Even though we are not delivering meals on Wednesday, Jan. 30, our main office will be open and our staff and volunteers will be doing Well Being Checks by phone and calling all of our 800 seniors that would typically get a delivery. We want to make sure they are safe."
