Grunt Style Foundation awards grant for three College of DuPage student veterans

Three College of DuPage student veterans are receiving additional funding for their post-service endeavors thanks to a grant from the Grunt Style Foundation.

The Glen Ellyn-based college is the only community college in the country to receive this funding.

Latoya Nabors-Ford (Navy), Jillian Wohlert (Navy), and Greg Belizaire (Army) will receive a $1,650 scholarship each, which can be used for educational and personal expenses.

Established in 2021, the Grunt Style Foundation provides resources to veterans, service members and their family members to support their mental health and wellness.

The national organization's generous grant will provided much-needed support to COD students and former members of the military as they transition back to civilian life.

"College of DuPage proudly supports veteran students in their pursuit of higher education. More than 1,000 of our students are military connected, which includes veterans, dependents and those who are currently serving," said College of DuPage President Dr. Brian Caputo. "We offer an array of services that includes assistance with federal or state benefits, financial aid and referrals to local veterans' organizations. Our goal is to support the men and women who have served our country, and to help them take the next step in their careers."

"The Grunt Style Foundation is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the service members and veterans that have made the decision to go back to school during or after their Service," said Grunt Style Foundation Director Tiffany Orner.

"Ensuring every military or veteran student has the resources they need and deserve to be successful in their academic endeavors is our goal," Orner said. "The Grunt Style Foundation will continue to support all military, past and present, that choose to continue their education with the goal of making their transition from the military community to the civilian sector as smooth as possible. This We'll Defend."
