'Route 66 God Loves You Tour' to open Sept. 19 at Joliet's Chicagoland Speedway

Latino communities will be an area of focus for Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, during an eight-city "Route 66 God Loves You Tour."

The tour opens at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, at Chicagoland Speedway, 500 Speedway Blvd. in Joliet, and proceeds along historic Route 66 to Oct. 2.

The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, is going through the heart of America along Route 66 to share the gospel.

Will Graham, Franklin Graham's son and an evangelist, wrote in a newsletter mailing, "One area of focus during the tour will be the growing Hispanic community in each of these (tour) cities. Each event will feature music by Marcos Witt, recipient of five Latin Grammys and two Billboard awards.

"Attendees can hear the gospel in Spanish through headsets, and all of the counseling and followup materials will be translated into Spanish. We pray that many of our Hispanic brothers and sisters will place their faith in Jeus Christ through these efforts," Will Graham said.

After opening in Joliet, the tour continues with events in St. Louis, Sept. 21; Springfield, Missouri, Sept. 23; Oklahoma City, Sept. 25; Amarillo, Texas, Sept. 26; Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sept. 28; Flagstaff, Arizona, Sept. 30; and San Bernardino, California, Oct. 2.
