Take a Romantic Night Walk at Fullersburg Woods Feb. 11-12
Enjoy a night in nature with someone you love on a "Romantic Night Walk" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-12, at the DuPage Forest Preserve District's Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve at 3609 Spring Road in Oak Brook.
Take a 1- to 3-mile self-guided walk with your sweetheart or with friends on lantern-lit paths that meander through an oak forest.
Along the way, you'll pause at historic shelters, cozy fires, and scenic bridges, where you can listen to the soothing sounds of the rolling waters of Salt Creek.
"The woods are often blanketed in snow, and we set the scene for a beautiful winter escape far from a mundane night out," said Jenny Kamm, district environmental interpreter. "Year after year, this is one of our most popular programs for adults."
"Romantic Night Walk" for ages 18 or older is $10 per person. Register online at www.dupageforest.org or by calling (630) 933-7248.
Use the parking lot on the east side of Spring Road south of 31st Street and north of York Road and meet near the nature center. Dress for the weather; flashlight recommended but not required.
In accordance with Centers for Disease Control guidelines, all visitors, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth when inside forest preserve buildings and in crowded outdoor settings.
The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County has been connecting people to nature for more than 100 years.
More than 6.2 million people visit its 60-plus forest preserves, 166 miles of trails, six education centers and scores of programs each year.
