Civic Awareness Series examines Electoral College June 10

The Robert R. McCormick House at Cantigny Park and the League of Women Voters of Wheaton continue their acclaimed Civic Awareness Series with a virtual program about the Electoral College. Rosemary Heilemann will present the history of the Electoral College, discuss its impact on our democracy, and offer a plan for change.

The Zoom presentation will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 10.

The program is free, but registration is required. Find "The Electoral College: Is it Time for It to Be Abolished?" on Eventbrite.com to register or sign up online at Cantigny.org.

Registrants will receive a Zoom link before the event.

Heilemann is a 40-year member of the League of Women Voters of Illinois and a founding member of its Electoral College Committee. She belongs to the League of Women Voters Deerfield/Lincolnshire and resides in Buffalo Grove.

Cantigny Park is open daily from 7 am to sunset and closes an hour after sunset on Wednesdays. The Robert R. McCormick House, a historic house museum, is currently closed for renovation and will reopen to the public in 2022. More information and a calendar of events is online at Cantigny.org.

Cantigny Park, part of the Chicago-based Robert R. McCormick Foundation, is the 500-acre Wheaton estate of Robert R. McCormick (1880-1955), long-time editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune.
