Annual Pathophysiology Panorama Dec. 7 at COD
The 10th annual Pathophysiology Panorama will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, in the lobby of the Health and Science Center at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn.
More than 70 students from the COD Diagnostic Medical Imaging programs in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine and Sonography will display posters and other media featuring a variety of diseases and pathologies that have been detected using various imaging modalities.
“This event gives students a chance to select one disease that interests them and provide an in-depth examination of it,” said Rosanne Paschal, Ph.D., professor, Diagnostic Medical Imaging Radiography (DMIR) program. “The students also learn valuable research skills, such as reviewing and critiquing credible literature.”
A sample of pathologies represented at the event will include dwarfism, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary emphysema, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, pediatric osteoarthritis, osteomyelitis ,urolithiasis, multiple sclerosis, gout, heel spurs, leg fractures, spina bifida, pediatric bone diseases that appear as child abuse, breast cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Paget's disease, Hodgkin's disease, Crohn's disease, Marfan syndrome, Klippel-feil syndrome, blast-related head and brain trauma, hydrocephalus, deep vein thrombosis,, pulmonary emboli, and coronary artery disease.
