COD hosts 'The African Book Famine and the Power of Books' Oct. 27

The College of DuPage Africa Committee with host a lecture and discussion with Books for Africa Board member Asratie Teferra on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Berg Instructional Center, Room 3500 on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

This program is free and open to the community.

A former College of DuPage student who has worked for the United Nations, Teferra will share his story about growing up in a one-room grass-covered hut in rural Ethiopia and how access to education and books profoundly changed the course of his life.

Teferra will also discuss the role Books for Africa has in the development strategy for African countries.

Books for Africa is the world's largest shipper of donated books to the African continent. Since 1988, Books for Africa has shipped more than 24 million high-quality text and library books to children and adults in 46 African countries.
