Fashion fundraiser focuses on Uptown March 19

Chicago Uptown Ministry builds community between people from all walks of life to help bring about self sufficiency, hope and justice in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.

To celebrate this work and help raise funds needed to continue important community-based services, The Friends of Chicago Uptown and Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois will hold a luncheon and fashion show on Saturday, March 19 at Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove Village. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a boutique and social hour, followed at noon by lunch, a raffle and the fashion show. The initial list of items being raffled off includes dinners and museum and theater tickets.

Money raised at last year's fashion show had a big impact on the community. Among the many services provided, it helped enable Chicago Uptown Ministry to distribute supplemental groceries to 2,340 families and 3,756 individuals, provide nearly 100 children with brand new back-to-school supplies, add a licensed clinician in Uptown and continue to host 24 women in an English as a Second Language class.

Registration and sponsorship information is available at www.lcfs.org/fashionshow, or by contacting Abigail Valentine at abigail_valentine@lcfs.org or (708) 488-5558.

Chicago Uptown Ministry is a program of Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois, a non-profit social ministry organization serving more than 35,000 individuals annually through programs such as foster care, adoption, counseling, youth residential treatment and a variety of community services.
