COD teacher, author gets positive review
The current issue of Radiologic Technology provided a positive review for the fourth edition of “Quality Management in the Imaging Sciences,” a 532-page textbook authored by Jeff Papp, professor of Radiation Therapy at College of DuPage.
Papp wrote the first edition, which was published in 1998, because he could not find a book that contained all of the necessary material for a class in quality assurance/quality management, which he has been teaching since 1983.
“I never required a textbook for the course,” explained the St. Charles resident. “I had to reserve different books and government publications in our library for students to consult as reference sources or suggest that they consult individual chapters, research papers and literature from various equipment manufacturers and suppliers. When I mentioned this to the rep from Mosby Publisher (now Mosby Elsevier), they asked if I would be willing to write a text. I finally said ‘yes' and wrote the first edition.”
Papp has written two other books and three dozen peer-reviewed articles that have been published in various professional journals, including Radiologic Technology, which also gave the first edition of “Quality Management” a strong review. In the current review, the writer recommends the book for students, practicing medical imaging professionals and medical imaging departments.
“It is very satisfying to put so much work into something and have it turn out in a positive way,” Papp said.
