Experience free continuing ed courses during 'Spring Sampler'

Continuing Education/Extended Learning will offer five free nights of education during Spring Sampler, a weeklong preview of spring semester 2011.

During the week of Jan. 10, a different free course session for adults will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on five consecutive days:

• Monday, Jan. 10, “Celebrate Italy”: Learn the beauty of the Italian culture and language.

• Tuesday, Jan. 11, “Pencil Drawing”: Gain basic drawing skills such as placement and form.

• Wednesday, Jan. 12, “MS Excel 2007”: Receive hands-on experience sampling the abilities of Excel 2007.

• Thursday, Jan. 13, “Classic Ballroom”: Learn the fox trot, waltz and swing. Singles, couples and beginners are welcome.

• Friday, Jan. 14, “Sharpen Knife Skills”: Focus on the techniques used to pare, chop, slice and dice fruits and vegetables.

Spring semester begins on Thursday, Jan. 13. Continuing Education/Extended Learning offers a variety of courses designed to meet the regional education needs and special interests of students from 15 months of age to later adulthood. Course areas include Adult Enrichment, Youth Academy, and Professional and Career Development.
