Trinity International University offers guaranteed admission to College of Lake County students with generous grants available

The College of Lake County (CLC) has added Trinity International University (TIU) in Deerfield to its list of partners offering guaranteed transfer admission. As an added incentive, TIU will offer financial assistance for accepted transferring students with at least a 3.0 GPA from CLC of at least $14,000 per year. CLC students will be guaranteed acceptance at TIU if they complete a list of requirements while at CLC as specified in the program agreement.

CLC alumnus Stephen Cartwright (A.A. 2011) is working toward a master's degree in divinity at Trinity while also working as assistant residence director. He applauds Trinity for offering a substantial scholarship to CLC students who participate in the Guaranteed Transfer Admission program.

"Earning a bachelor's degree can be expensive; therefore, having the opportunity to receive such a large amount of assistance is a blessing. Providing guaranteed admission is also an incredible opportunity. I hold both CLC and TIU in such high regard and am thrilled at this new partnership," Cartwright said.

He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Trinity in 2013. While at CLC, Cartwright held leadership positions in Men of Vision, Black Student Union and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and worked as a Student Ambassador. He returned to CLC Oct. 21 as part of an alumni panel offering success tips to high school and college males at the college's 7th Annual Man Up conference.

Trinity's focus on providing volunteer activities in the community played a large role in his decision to attend there. "TIU has intentional partnerships with entities in North Chicago that allow undergraduate and graduate students to learn from and work alongside educators and other community pillars. Whether it be after-school programs, church involvement or volunteering, Trinity students are challenged and educated outside of their own classroom but also within communities that are rich in heritage and cultural experiences," Cartwright said.

David S. Dockery, president of Trinity International University, said "It is a joy for Trinity to participate in this partnership. Both institutions desire to be good community citizens, and this agreement is another strong step toward that end."

CLC students can choose from 19 institutions that offer special incentives and guaranteed admission, ensuring a seamless transfer of credit to the four-year colleges and universities. Its current list of four-year partners offering guaranteed admission includes American Business School (Paris, France), Arizona State University, Carthage College, DePaul University, Eastern Illinois University, Elmhurst College, Herzing University, Kendall College, North Central College, Northeastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Olivet Nazarene University, Southern Illinois University, Trinity International University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Colleges of Engineering and College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences), School of the Art Institute of Chicago, University of Iowa and University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
