COD to Host Energy Film Festival

College of DuPage will host a series of three free film screenings focused on energy this fall. All screenings will be shown in the Health and Science Center, Room 1234, on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

These screenings are free and open to the public.

Shown in conjunction with the College's free Natural Resources Symposium Series, these film screenings will include award-winning films covering a variety of issues related to contemporary energy use and sustainable practices. There will be a Q&A discussion after each screening.

Cape Spin! An American Power Struggle: Documents the controversial battle over America's first off-shore windfarm. Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.

Switch: Illustrates the transition from coal and oil to recently developed energy resources and how the shift will happen. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.

Babushkas of Chernobyl: Tells the story of approximately 100 women who cling to their ancestral homeland after most of their neighbors have fled and their husbands have gradually died off. Monday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m.

Thirty minutes before each film screening SCARCE, a local community educational organization, will demonstrate the Energy Bike to teach energy conservation. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to test out the bike.
