Girls volleyball/Fox Valley roundup
Jacobs’ girls volleyball team used 12 kills and 3 blocks from Alyssa Ehrhardt Tuesday night to sweep McHenry 25-5, 25-13 in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action.
Taylor Lauder (11 assists, 5 digs), Maris Smith (9 digs, 1 ace, 1 kill), Kassie Kasper (6 digs, 2 aces), Mackie Traub (9 assists, 1 ace), Katie Mahoney (6 kills, 3 blocks) and Jenna Bilgrien (5 kills) were also major contributors for the Golden Eagles (19-6, 5-2).
Burlington Central d. Rockford Christian: Burlington Central (18-7, 6-1) defeated Rockford Christian 25-22, 25-14 in Big Northern East action Tuesday thanks to a team-leading 28 digs by Allie O’Reilly. Jess Emrich (25 assists, 2 aces, 8 digs), Lauren Wiltsie (12 digs, 3 kills, 2 aces), Lexie Bouza (10 kills, 10 digs, 5 blocks), and Lauren Peltonen (5 blocks, 2 kills) all contributed to the Rockets’ victory.
South Elgin d. Lake Park: Lake Park put up a fight but South Elgin was victorious 25-20, 25-23 in Upstate Eight (Valley) play Tuesday. Corbin Kehe had 15 assists, 5 aces, 3 digs and a block assist, while Ashley Oandasan registered 6 kills, 2 digs, and a block assist for South Elgin (12-7-3, 2-1). Allison Osbourne had 4 kills, 5 digs, 1 ace and 2 block assists. Amanda Nadler (5 kills, 3 block assists) and Karlee Bradley (8 digs) also aided in South Elgin’s victory.
Neuqua Valley d. Bartlett: Neuqua Valley beat Bartlett 25-5, 25-18 while competing in Upstate Eight (Valley) Conference play. Bartlett (4-17, 1-3) was led by Hannah Senne (3 aces), Haley Hasenstein (2 solo blocks, 1 kill), Katie Hrbacek (4 digs), and Rachel Hartford (3 digs).
Crystal Lake South d. Huntley: Nicole Jurkash had 9 kills and Lindsey Murphy finished with 22 assists and 8 digs to lead Crystal Lake South to a 25-19, 25-23 victory over Fox Valley (Valley) Conference opponent Huntley. Kylie Portera had 5 kills and 3 blocks for the Gators (20-6, 7-1). The Red Raiders (7-13, 1-5) were led by Erin Lyman (8 kills, 7 digs), Rachel Shores (12 digs), Kelsey DeWolf (22 assists, 3 digs), and Emily Westermeyer (7 digs, 5 kills, 2 aces).
Prairie Ridge d. Dundee-Crown: Prairie Ridge swept the Chargers 25-19, 25-17 in the FVC Valley. Cori Eischen had 9 assists for Dundee-Crown (6-10, 1-7), while Emily Michalski, Sam Pagano, Gina Pagano, Jillian Hostetler, and Steph Magasmen all had 2 kills apiece.
