Eastview students raise funds for sick classmate

Students at one Elgin Area District U-46 middle school banded together last month to help a sick classmate by shaving their heads or donning a colorful new hair accessory.

More than 100 students from Eastview Middle School in Bartlett attended a fundraiser for Logan Williams, 12, a classmate who was diagnosed with cancer on Christmas Eve last year. The fundraiser, which was held Feb. 12 at the Bella Vita Salon in Streamwood, raised about $3,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Logan’s mother, Karen Williams, said Logan had spent 15 of the first 30 days of treatment in hospital. Logan has not been able to return to school so seeing all of his friends at the fundraiser gave him strength and a huge boost.
