Libertyville gets past Stevenson

Libertyville took the lead in the first half and never looked back on the way to a 2-0 victory over Stevenson thanks to goals by Lloyd Chatfield and Sam Kaplan, who was assisted by Marshall Hollingsworth.

Zach Labrum protected the goal for the Wildcats to keep the shutout and boost their record to 11-1 and 2-0 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Stevenson fell to 5-3-2 and 2-2 in the NSC Lake with its third straight loss.

Vernon Hills 1, Wauconda 1: Mike Tabrizi finished a cross from Jeremy Cohen to pull the Cougars even, after they trailed at halftime of the North Suburban Prairie match. John Ramirez worked the goal for Vernon Hills (2-6-1, 1-1-1).

Wauconda is 3-7-1 and 0-3-1.

Lake Zurich 6, Zion-Benton 0: Caleb Pothast scored the first goal assisted by his brother John, and later the roles switched, as John Pothast scored assisted by Caleb.

John Pothast scored again, assisted by Greg Geimer. The remaining goals were made by Matt Montemayor, assisted by Bryan Smith, Smith, assisted by Justin Marais and Brenden Seeger.

Jeff Kreutz and Braven Bacardi helped Lake Zurich keep the shutout and improve its record to 7-3-3 and 2-0 in the NSC Lake. The Bears have won four straight.

Grant 4, Antioch 2: Daniel Villa scored 3 goals and added an assist for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie contest. Tim Oehrlein added a goal.

Andres Velarde and Robbie Hernandez had assists for Grant (7-5, 3-1).

Lakes 5, North Chicago 2: The Eagles came back from a 2-1 deficit at half, starting with 2 goals by Jonathan Stanley, assisted by Richard Galat and Scott Brugioni.

Trevor Ray added the next 2 goals, both assisted by Luke Istvanek. The final goal was made by Morgan Hannum, again assisted by Brugioni. Roberto Tre Re worked in goal for Lakes, making 6 saves.

The win improved Lakes’ record to 6-5-1 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.

Grayslake Central 3, Crystal Lake Central 1: The Rams moved to 4-7 overall and 3-1 in the Fox Valley Fox Division thanks to goals by Eder Lopez, Johnny Madrid and James Garcia. Diego Gomez and Phillip Longenecker made the assists.

“The team played well and is starting to come together, which is nice to see this time of year,” Rams coach Mike McCaulou said.

Johnsburg 5, Grayslake North 1: The Skyhawks dominated the game, building a 4-1 advantage by the first half.
