The 2011-2012 school year is right around the corner. That means parents and students need to start thinking about registration and paying fees. The registration process in many districts such as Elgin Area District U-46 and Crystal Lake High School District 155 is made simpler with the introduction of online registration or at least preregistration.

Parents in Elgin Area District U-46 can complete registration steps to eliminate the number of trips to a school site by visiting u-46.org. There students will also find school supply lists, fee schedules, cafeteria information, health sheets and the district’s transportation website.

The walk-in registration dates for elementary schools in U-46 is from 2 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 11. Middle and high school walk-in registration is also on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., with an additional date from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 16.

For more information on final online or mail-in registration dates, contact your individual school.

In District 155, preregistration saves time by allowing parents to confirm contact and health information and pay registration fees. Go to d155.org to complete registration, which takes about 15 minutes. Information about in-school registration will be mailed to the students’ home. But some districts like Community Unit District 300 are keeping the registration process old school with on-site registration. The district said it will not offer online registration until it comes up with more user-friendly software. For this year, parents must complete registration at their child#146;s school instead of the local high school. The district found that parents would prefer to register their child at an event at their respective school, rather than a central site. Families new to the district must contact their local school. For more information visit the district#146;s website at d300.org.In Cary Elementary District 26, all health and medical forms must be returned to the district no later than two weeks before the start of the school year. The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 24. Go to cary26.org to download the necessary forms and for more information on schedule pick up dates at Cary Junior High School.
