Harvest Bistro Unveiled at Sedgebrook

What historically has been the Monarch Café has been beautifully transformed into the Harvest Bistro at Sedgebrook in Lincolnshire, Illinois. "It's a massive renovation. It is physically a completely different room," said Steve Haas, dining services manager. "We have improved the ambience and the method of service."

The Harvest Café is more representative of Chicago's north shore area according to Steve. "There are a lot of corner bistros in the area. The Harvest Bistro is beautiful and modern…it is casual chic."

Plans started for the overhaul in 2014. "We knew that the Monarch Café had been popularly used for three meals a day for ten years. It was time to be upgraded," said Steve. The venue is more casual than Sedgebrook's Shoreline Dining Room.

The new space features digital menu signage, a new salad bar, a new area for beverages, and an action station where the chef will prepare pastas and omelets and carve meats to order. "It is a good place for show cooking," said Steve. The menu is similar to that of the Shoreline Dining Room, but also offers its own signature item.

"The staff is very excited to have moved in and continue to serve our residents in our new arena," said Steve.
