Auditions for COD College Theatre Sept. 1-2

General auditions for College of DuPage College Theatre's fall productions of “Recent Tragic Events” and “The Dining Room” will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 1 and 2, in the Studio Theatre of the McAninch Arts Center at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Craig Wright's “Recent Tragic Events” will be staged Oct. 7 to 23. The black comedy follows a blind date on Sept. 12, 2001. Andrew arrives to meet Waverly at her Minneapolis apartment, but the woman is preoccupied by the fact that her twin, Wendy, a student in New York, hasn't been heard from in several days. Joined by an eccentric next-door neighbor, a sock puppet and the realization that the couple is connected by a series of strange coincidences, the play offers an irreverent take on events that followed a difficult time in our collective history.

A. R. Gurney's “The Dining Room will be staged Nov. 1 to 20. This modern classic is a series of vignette scenes set in a formal dining room, with time, geographic location and three generations entering and exiting in often overlapping scenes.

Auditions for both productions include cold readings. No experience is necessary. Copies of the scripts are on reserve in the College Library. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held Saturday, Sept. 3.
