Naperville Rotary supports Humanitarian Service Project with $1,500 grant

The Rotary Club of Naperville contributed to Humanitarian Service Project's (HSP) mission of providing needy seniors in DuPage and Kane counties with nutritious food every month by presenting them with a $1,500 grant. HSP was selected as one of the recipients of the funds that The Rotary Club of Naperville supplies to many deserving community organizations. Annually they raise over $250,000 and fund over 40 organizations.

HSP's pledge of providing needy seniors with monthly food supply as a part of their Senior Citizen Project has a focus that is greatly considered when The Rotary Club of Naperville picks their winning applicants. Ron Czalbowski, chair of the community service committee for the Rotary Club of Naperville said, “We enjoy being able to provide monetary support for HSP and we would love to continue to assist with their organization.”

Since its founding, the Rotary Club have been major philanthropists for charitable and community services such as HSP. The Rotary Club's motto of “Service Above Self” is evidenced by the grant they provided to HSP. Karole Kettering, Executive Director of HSP said, “We are so grateful to have such a committed organization that truly cares about bettering the community working with us. The grant they have provided is a wonderful contribution to our Senior Citizen Project and the needy seniors that deserve our help.”

The 120 impoverished seniors in HSP's Senior Citizens Project receive monthly deliveries of 90 lbs. of groceries that include a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen meats, non-perishable foods, personal care items and paper products, in addition to fresh fruits and vegetables. The seniors also receive a monthly “Secret Pal” gift and Holiday Meal provided by HSP's volunteers.
