McAninch Arts Center sets 2011-12 season

Continuing in its mission to increase community access to the arts, the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, proudly announces a lineup of jazz, dance, folk, eclectic, comedy, theater, classical and family events for its 2011-2012 season.

Now in its 25th year, the MAC has welcomed more than 1.5 million patrons through its doors. Last year alone, the MAC provided more than 230 performances to 75,000 guests from the greater Chicago area.

“We've put together a season that is emblematic of an arts center located on the campus of a great community college –something of quality for everyone whether your tastes run from bluegrass or blues to classical music and theatre,” said MAC Director Stephen Cummins.

MAC Pack tickets for three or more events currently are on sale for renewing subscribers. Sales to new subscribers begin Wednesday, June 15. MAC Pack purchasers receive the priority choice of seats, free ticket exchanges and savings up to 15 percent off individual ticket prices. Single-event tickets go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Headliners include Garrison Keillor, Rosanne Cash, Buckwheat Zydeco, Dailey and Vincent, Hal Holbrook, Larry Miller and many more. The MAC will be celebrating its 25th birthday with a Blues and Barbeque Birthday Bash from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Patrons are invited to bring their lawn chairs and join the MAC for an evening of good music and good food, celebrating Chicago blues and offering an exclusive look at the new Culinary and Hospitality Center at College of DuPage. Visit www.AtTheMAC.org for the latest details, including artists and ticket information.

“We begin the season with a special blues birthday party celebrating 25 years of presenting arts events that enrich the cultural vitality of our community,” Cummins said.

“After we pat ourselves on the back for making it 25 years we go back to doing what thousands of arts patrons appreciate and that is offering more than 70 diverse arts experiences – something for every taste.”

Following is a complete listing of performers scheduled for the 2011-2012 season. Tickets prices are listed in adult/senior/youth format and select shows offer additional seating at special pricing. Ask the MAC Ticket Office for details. All shows are held in the MAC's Mainstage and begin at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
