Lake County State's Attorney to Read to Kids at Health Center Event

As a community partner, the Lake County Health Department has committed to the 30-Million-Word Campaign. The initiative is encouraging parents to read more to their children, since there is a direct correlation between early verbal experiences in childhood and later achievement.

In connection with the campaign, the Department has launched a free "Leaders are Readers" series in which community leaders read to children on a monthly basis. Lake County State's Attorney Michael G. Nerheim will be the guest reader at the next Leaders are Readers event at the North Chicago Health Center, 2215 14th Street in North Chicago. The event will take place Saturday, January 14, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The series will continue on the second Saturday of each month. In addition to the reading, games and fun activities will be provided.
