Students from Addison Trail, East Leyden, West Leyden, Highland Park, Prospect Heights, Ridgewood and Wheeling high schools began the day by taking a pledge to speak only Italian throughout the program. During the event, sponsored by COD's Italian and Liberal Arts programs in collaboration with Northern Illinois University and the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI), students participated in a number of activities celebrating Italian language and culture, including passing through a simulated customs process, bocce ball matches and a geographical activity involving Italy.
