As a professor of Law at the Ohio State University, and being active in civil rights litigation after graduating from Standford law School, Ms. Alexander became alarmingly aware of the gross new form of racism that has developed in this country. Her research showed that thousands of young men, most of them Black or Latino are being locked behind bars and labeled as felons for minor non-violent crimes mostly associated with the "war on drugs". Once labelled a felon, it is almost impossible to get a job, housing, and a new start on life, and in effect is creating a new type of lower "caste" system. Alexander shows that by targeting black men and decimating communities of color, our criminal justice system fosters this new form of racism.

This followup workshop is sponsored by the individual initiative of members of the Baha'i Faith and facilitated by Charles Young. The purpose is to increase awareness of this issue and encourage consultation in dealing with this most challenging issue.

Everyone is welcome. There will be light refreshments. Please call 847-546-3479 to RSVP or for any questions.
