Hampshire graduate Alex Dumoulin scored 29 points and Carly Saraceno added 14 points Saturday as the Elgin Community College women's basketball team defeated Illinois Valley 65-62 to advance to the Region IV District K championship game.

With the win the Spartans moved to 25-6 on the season, tying the school record for wins set last season. ECC, the No. 3 seed, has advanced to the postseason title game for the first time and will play top-seeded Kishwaukee at 2:30 p.m. next Saturday at IVC in Oglesby.

"It was a great team effort," said ECC coach Jerry McLaughlin, whose team led 41-35 at halftime. "Alex made some key free throws to put us ahead and (IVC) had a 3-pointer miss at the buzzer."
