Mohammed Naseehu Ali to speak at ECC

Mohammed Naseehu Ali, a New York City-based writer and musician, will be the next guest of Elgin Community College’s 2012-2013 Writers Center Reading Series on Thursday, Oct. 25. The free event starts at 7:30 p.m. in the ECC Arts Center, Building H, Room H142, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

A native of Ghana, Africa, Ali is the author of “The Prophet of Zongo Street,” a book of short stories. His fiction and essays have been published by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Mississippi Review, Bomb, Gathering of the Tribes, Essence, and Open City. Ali lives in Brooklyn, NY, and teaches creative writing at New York University’s Creative Writing Program.

A pre-reading dinner with Ali will be held at 5:30 p.m. For reservations, contact Rachael Tecza at rtecza@elgin.edu or (847) 214-7578.

Copies of Ali’s work also will be available for sale and signing at the event.
