Poet Wyn Cooper to speak at ECC

Poet, author and lyricist Wyn Cooper is the next guest of the 2011-2012 Writers Center Reading Series on Thursday, Oct. 20. The free event starts at 7:30 p.m. in the ECC Arts Center, Room VPA 191D, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Cooper, of Vermont, is the author of four books of poems — “The Country of Here Below,” “The Way Back,” “Postcards from the Interior” and “Chaos is the New Calm.” His 1993 poem “Fun” later became the basis for the Grammy Award-winning song, “All I Wanna Do” by Sheryl Crow.

Cooper’s poems have been featured in over 60 literary magazines, as well as over 20 anthologies of contemporary poetry, such as The Mercury Reader, Outsiders and Ecstatic Occasions, Expedient Forms.

Copies of Cooper’s work also will be available for sale and signing at the event.
